Some days it pays to get out of bed. For the past two days we have been covering secondhand clothing stores throughout Huron County ( in Western Ontario) for possible costume pieces to outfit a steampunk version of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors that I adapted for a local high school. Of course, I was also looking for kilt related clothing. Yesterday, steampunk did well and I found nothing for me personally.
Today was a whole new ball game. The Fabricland in Stratford had a members only 50 percent off sale. My wife got fabric for the leads' costumes and I got five pieces of beautiful fabric for vests for me (that one of the costume ladies has offered to sew).
On a whim on the way home, we stopped at the Goodwill store, even though we had been through it a week before. There I scored an Aran hand knit sweater in off white that looks as though it has never been worn, a tweed fedora made in Ireland and a grey Harris tweed jacket - all for $21 total. They all fit perfectly and I'm a happy camper!
