is it appropriate to wear a Wallace Red Modern to a funeral

I forgot to add my length of kilt.. just posted about wearing a Wallace Red Modern to a funeral .. my kilt goes slightly above my knee, so with black tights, black boots or black clogs with black sweater or blouse.. would that be appropriate ?

Welcome to XMarksthescot! You should be just fine dressing as you suggest. I assume you are worried about the bold red colour, etc. in the kilt, but that should not give offense of any kind, IMHO. It is more important that you are there to show your respects and comfort the family, that should be greatly appreciated...

It would be absolutely fine Angie. The level of dress you propose would be very respectful and am sure would be very well received at the funeral.

First, may I say I am sorry to hear of your loss.

In any given context (wedding, funeral, party, festival, "just going out to shop") all tartans and colorways such as modern, ancient, weathered, etc., are equal. What makes the outfit "appropriate" is frankly, the rest of the outfit. A Wallace Modern is no more or less appropriate than a Campbell Weathered, a Gordon Ancient, or other tartan. If you were to wear any tartan with just a t-shirt and sneakers, I'd say that's inappropriate for a funeral. But coupled with the other items you described, I would think you'd be fine.

You cannot wear a kilt you don't have - so wear the kilt you have.

What matters, in my opinion, is what is in your heart not the clothing on your back.
