Boy, I would love to have the blue velvet Montrose. There is only one minor problem, I would never have an occasion to wear it. Somehow it just wouldn't seem appropriate wearing it to the pub on a Saturday evening.

Classy, nearly timeless.

well... almost. The coatee is a tad too big-- the sleeves are way too long, and it clearly doesn't fit at the waist, unless Kinloch Anderson is offering a sack coat for evening wear. Worst of all though, at least in my opinion, is the crappy pre-tied bow tie. It tells me that, ultimately, the lads now running Kinloch Anderson really have lost the plot. In my book this outfit is about as elegant as vinyl seat covers in a Rolls-Royce. Pity, really.

Other than a tad "boxy" at the waist, I don't think its all that bad. Guess I'm just not as picky as some though.

This is the case with most catalogue models selling off the peg items. The ad agency doesn't have the time or the right to have all of the items altered to perfectly fit the model on photo shoot day. They put them in the closest size they have and start shooting. They are still planning to sell that item after the model leaves. Sometimes they take the time to pin something here or there but as far as I know, they rarely do permanent alterations to the merchandise.

I can understand why Kinloch Anderson wouldn't want to sacrifice a few thousand pounds worth of merchandise on top of paying the photographers etc...

The photo is close enough to convey the idea but certainly, a better fit would be ideal. Vinyl seat covers on a Rolls-Royce might be a bit strong, no?

The knot is pretty tiny and it doesn't look like it has two flaps on each side. I would have guessed pre-tied too, but I didn't really notice until someone else pointed it out.

a well tied bow tie should be slightly 'imperfect', it's one of those little idiosyncrasies with bow ties. Slightly 'characterful' is good- looking perfectly even and crisp like it was tied by a machine is bad.
