Is there a back-story to this wonderful piece? I have the impression that different tracks were recorded by different members of The Rabble, and then the tracks combined and mixed to create this awesome piece. But I must have missed any posts that gave the background. Well done! Well done, indeed!

Absolutely amazing! I hadn't kept up with what y'all were doing, and was flabbergasted at the result. Beautiful song, and professionally executed!

Thanks! (though I had a rather small part... Derek is the mastermind... )

Here's the original thread Derek started which got the ball rolling

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...singers-81731/

Derek's concept was brilliant, and made possible by the technology we have nowadays, where I can go into a studio in California and lay down tracks while playing along with tracks Derek had earlier laid down in Wales, and then Derek can move the various tracks around and create a composition... how cool is that?

I'm afraid I chuckled as well as marvelled at the artistry.

Molly Malone was always a rather raucous song - and there it is translated into something like Clannad would do.

    It is truly wonderful.

I've sent an E-mail to a couple of hundred of my friends bragging about what you - my other friends - have done, and inviting them to both listen, and to join X-Marks. I've also posted my letter on Facebook. You have done this community a wonderful service!

Very nicely done. It is amazing what can be brought together. I am very interested to hear where this goes from here. Congrats to all involved.

Yes this is a slower, rather majestic balladlike rendition.

For many years I played in an Irish band and we did an up-tempo bouncy version.

Unfortunately a few had to drop out of this recording and some instruments obviously had to be left out, but hopefully they will be able to join us on the next batch in the new year.
The line up on this track is
    O C Richard .. Pipes n Whistle
Be Da Veva .. Backing Vocal
The Offical Bren .. Drums ... and also my dear friend Jon who put some shared drums on too.
    David Thorpe ... Bass
Elaine ... Vox n bit of Guitar (and friend Xen on fiddle who just wanted to join in).
Derek .. Keyboards and bit o vox on chorus.

Its still all work in progress ...
