I, also, just finished reading Ender's Game. Now, I'm reading Pursuit, a murder mystery by Gene Hackman (yes, that Gene Hackman). So far, it's pretty good.

Just finished "Starhawk" by Jack McDevitt, my second favourite living sci-fi author. (And a damn fine fellow, too.) I'll start his "Cassandra Project" collaboration with Mike Resnick next.

Also waiting in the wings is "Dark Star" by Henry Stevens. (Not sci-fi but that shadowy genre sometimes called "speculative history" -- or "crackpot conspiracy theory" -- but enjoyable if not taken too seriously.)

Which leaves me still buried in the following:

"Penetrating Wisdom: The Aspiration of Samantabhadra" by The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
"Dzogchen: Heart Essence of the Great Perfection" by H.H. The Dalai Lama
"An Ax to Grind" by Bernie Weisgerber
"The Handplane Handbook" by Chris Schwarz
"Ax Makers of North America" by Allan Klenman, 2nd ed. by Larry McPhail

So, rather inadvertantly I am fulfilling the old adage to "chop wood and carry water" -- or as we say in Canada:

"Before winter, chop wood and carry water. During winter, chop water and carry wood."

Currently, I am reading The Forgotten Highlander by Alistair Urquhart. I picked it up at the Gordon Highlanders Museum at the enthusiastic recommendation of a gentleman who volunteers there. This is the second time I'm reading it, and I highly recommend it to all who have a bit of military interest, and especially to those who have family who served with the Gordon Highlanders.
    Cheers
    Nick
