Pipes without drums
Our youngest has been diagnosed with hypersenstive hearing and has asked for a Scottish CD for Xmas without any drums as they hurt his ears.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Most solo piping CDs will not feature drums. The "Pipers of Distinction" series is particularly good, especially Gordon Walker.
Have you considered Irish Uilleann or small pipes CDs? That might be another option. Best of luck!

David,
Many thanks, I'll look into this.
I'm not overly familiar with the Uilleann pipes or small pipes, so I might enjoy them as well.
He REALLY loves his 'Scotlish' music...

I hope that you find something appropriate, Martin. It's a bit late for christmas shopping, though!

There are plenty of uillean pipe albums out there and they are usually accompanied by other instruments. Might I suggest the Northumbrian pipes? Kathryn Tickell is quite good and has a number of albums out. Not as much volume as the Great Highland pipes and a lovely, happy sound. Give them a try. I would recommend "The Debatable Lands" as a good one to give a listen.

There are a vast number of solo Highland pipe CDs out there. There's The World's Greatest Pipers series and the Pipers of Distinction series, both of which are great.
There are also a great many solo uilleann pipe CDs, but they're harder to find, because usually other instruments are added such as fiddle, guitar, bodhran, etc.
There are some very nice uilleann albums with no accompaniment. Some CDs consist entirely of uilleann pipe & fiddle duets. One CD is entirely uilleann pipes & concertina duets.
