Not a Costco member but I have some mixed feelings about that bottle. First of all while Kirkland is a decent brand for some things, I have had others that are horrible. This bottle seems to be full of scotch from Glenlivet so I would imagine it can not be that bad. I wonder how the price compares to a similar bottle with the Glenlivet label on it?

As for being proud of it, well not so much that you have it, but then again with a store specific label it might just become collectible some day. I would hate to see it actually go up in price but such things do happen in the often unpredictable collectors market.

He's probably a guy that's pouring 8-year old scotch into 40-year old scotch bottles and still trying to woo teenagers. Is that what young people call it now - "woo"? Woopie!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I do believe this is one of those buy to keep for appreciation Scotches; while in Drumnadrochit (Great Glen Way) we stayed at a B&B who's man of the house kept bottles of Scotch to appreciate and then sell at higher price. He had about 20 bottles that were 20 years and older - quite a market in this I believe.
This is the final test of a gentleman; his respect for those who can be of no possible service to him.

There is a TV program about Costco, several years old now, that airs from time to time on MSNBC. The show has a segment about the wines and although its got the Kirkland branding its suppose to be some decent stuff. I'm not a wine snob so I can't vouch for it though. As for the $700 price tag, my local Costco stocks a diamond ring priced at $25999.99, if anyone is interested. Yes $26K.

Whats it like? The labeling and dare I say it, pricing, puts me off trying their malt and gin; it makes me think it will be rough. Its stupid I know, but once you have a perception of something, its hard to change.
