That is extremely kind of you to say. However if I have done something right it is because I have followed the learned advice on this forum from acknowledged experts, resident Scots and other incredibly knowledgable brothers and sisters the world over. I endeavour to walk the THCD path in my level of apparel and in your first picture you have easily surpassed my best efforts. It's does you great credit my friend. Your wife should be very proud.

You look very well turned out, mate! Well done indeed. I absolutely love your sartorial style and approach towards Highland Dress. I too am an avid fan of the more "earthy" look with Highland day attire. I am also an avid admirer of Loake and all of my Oxfords and Brogues come from them. You are so right too. By taking the time to properly care for your leather shoes by utilising of cedar shoe trees (as well as regular polishing), well-made, high-quality shoes will last a lifetime!

One word for your attire, splendid. I am one of Scotts most ardent admirers and as you say, your sporran certainly has the style to cross the casual/formal boarder. I very much like your tweed jacket/waistcoat, could you give us some information on that? Cheers.

Looks really splendid. The background in a couple of the pics looks like a quadrangle of the University of Glasgow, which I attended many years ago. Am I correct?

Thank you, sir. The jacket is a lovely Harris Tweed which seems t change colour magically as it reacts to the natural and ambient light. Sometimes is appears as green, sometimes grey, sometimes greeny-broon. It is a real mix of fine threads upon close inspection with lots of fine reds too. Warm as toast, thorn and virtually waterproof. It was made for me by Geoffrey (Tailor) Edinburgh in 1996.

Funny story... It hung in the cupboard of our farmhouse in Easter Ross for many years and once after a year or so on the hangar, when I took it out and put it on I noticed that a moose had apparently taken up residence in the breast pocket and decided to eat it's way out from the inside. The result looked like I had been blasted by a shotgun from the inside. It made for a good story through many years of wear when eventually I took it back to Geoffrey for repair. At first they said it was impossible and suggested...wait for it... a clan crest patch. Yuck. Never. After about a year, I took it back again and this time saw a different tailor with a bit more confidence who took on the job, as long as I wasn't too fussy about the possible result. The result is amazing. He somehow managed to weave it back together so finely that unless you know the hole was there, it is invisible. He enjoyed the challenge so much they didn't even charge me.
