I loved Deep Space 9 and ST:TNG. Battlestar Galactica was good. Ron Moore usually makes good shows. I shall have to give this one a go. Thanks for the heads up.

Okay, now you've got me curious, so I have added Outlander to my reading list (which is already too long). Gee, thanks, Kyle.

Kyle , this new series of Outlander looks to be great . I am familiar with Diana Gabaldon's works , although I haven't read her complete series of Outlander .

I am intrigued by this Starz series and I will definitely watch it !!

On a bit of a humorous note ... what would be Hector MacDonald's review of this new TV program ?

    Cheers , Mike

I have read all of the books, and the cast are not one bit as I imagined them to be, while I was reading. I like fantasy stories, and this series was first suggested to me by a lady at the book store. It was hard to put down. I am looking forward to seeing this.

The author responds quite strongly (negatively) to her series being described as "romance." There are elements of sci fi/fantasy, historical fiction, and even mystery novels as the series progresses. Yes, there's an undeniable element of romance, but not overpoweringly so.

Several years ago my friend told me about Outlander, thinking I would like it since I'm interested in Scottish things.
I borrowed the audiobook from the library, but didn't get all the way through.
The thought of watching the TV series seems more appealing since I relate to things in a more visual way.

When I saw this photo for the series, I felt mesmerized. I want so much to make a ladies outfit like this one. Of course the man's attire is really nice, too. I've made several breacan feile. But something else called out to me, too. The man's tartan looks to me very much like the the MacKay Reproduction as woven by D.C.Dalgliesh. Just last week I finished making a kilt in that tartan so this photo really has a hold on me.

Tis a wonderful photo indeed. I showed it to my lovely wife and told her it's us in a past life!

Not sure how long this will be up (or if it will even work), but there is a fan gathering live stream from LA this afternoon (starts at 4 pm PT): http://www.starz.com/originals/outla...ringlivestream

Lots of bagpiping so far....and Ron Moore in a contemporary kilt (trying to sit properly on stage, as he says "he was warned".... I got the link from Diana Gabaldon's facebook page.
