Yes, they are awesome live! I saw them for the first time at the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio. Just superb!

Their music attracts an audience that normally will not listen to bag pipes - the same group avoiding classical music.
In this context, the costume is a proudly Scottish stage costume.
They were all accomplished pipers when they formed RHCPs ten years ago.
Depending on the audience and venue, they also include a lot of traditional Highland music in their sets as well as the tunes they have written or adapted to the pipes.

This video recorded at a BBC1 radio morning pop music show ( Nick Grimshaw ) has gone viral in the 4 days since it was recorded. It has been watched nearly one million times.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I've seen this band several times at Milwaukee Irish fest and their performance has always been top notch. It's nice too that they actually come out to the merchandise booth after the show to sign stuff and greet fans. The video here is really the bare bones of the band. They actually are much larger and even have a horn section and dancers. And what you don't see in this video is the fact that the bands logo is incorporated right into the pleats of their kilts. A bit flashy in the outfits but I like it and I think that's what caught the attention of Graham Norton when they first came on his show years ago and made their mark. They always have a huge crowds at Irishfest every year with Gaelic Storm being the other band that draws in the people and that's with one or more performances per day over a three day period. I love the fact that they open their show with the theme from 2010 a Space Odyssey. they do tend to do alot of cover tunes lately but I suppose it helps draw in peple who normally don't listen to bagpipes and the covers and their original stuff is always worth listening to. Personally I don't care to hear any more of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" ever played by any band on bagpipes again

Robert, is this the kilt weave you are telling about?

I have no problem with the grippy shoes on the slick stage floors with all the moving about they do.

Aye, thats the one. Although I'm not sure if its woven in or not. Having been in the printing business for several years it would be tricky but possible to silkscreen the logo on a kilt. Last I saw the band was two years ago and they didn't have them then. Hoping to make it back to Milwaukee for the Irishfest this year so hopefully they will be there and I can figure out how they ahve theirs done.

I saw their kilts up close last year and the "tartan" seemed woven

Am thinking of the weavers. Since the hem is red also, the loom had to be programmed for a 8ish yard tartan repeat. The saltire rear pattern would be the only other tartan I know of that uses this large of a repeat.
    Maybe a three piece kilt?

There's also the "Scotland's Lion Heart" that has sort of pattern/repeat issue

Does anybody know about their pipes? Are they all playing the same brand? They look the same.
