    I didnt realize the tie could have symbolic meaning. I might see if my Uni has a tie pattern. Very interesting stuff. Thanks for the info.

    Stripe ties, good. Solid colour ties, good. Busy patterned ties, not so good.

    As previously mentioned, The ABF tie is a sure fire go with all. I wear mine more often than most. (Windsor knot if you're interested.)

    I wear ties that are solid, striped, paisley, and with small designs with my kilts.
