    Forum Induced Purchases

I was thinking about how many of my kilt related purchases and wondering how many had been influenced or directly attributable to this forum. I came up with seven and a couple in progress.

What about the rest of you?

Had to edit as I forgot one.

I wouldn't say that I have been influenced by the forum to buy products, but I would say that I have gained more of an education about products I was already looking to purchase. I am very thankful for the insight and knowledge that a lot of members bring to the board. It has helped to prevent me from walking into purchases blindly, and has given me more of a well informed approach to purchasing.

Not sure if inducement is the word, but I've made a number of contacts thru the board and purchases have followed, ie a sporrqan from R Kilts, Kilts from USAK, yes, and lots of whisky

Most definitely, my USA Kilt purchase was inspired by the forum. I was a cursory interest in Utilikilts but not the "whole" kilt experience. The forum definitely opened my eyes to the wonderful world of tartans!

I found myself getting caught up in the peer pressure of kilt purchase from the board. Not that it's bad, I just noticed it. I was debating between getting a formal "tank" or two casuals. I couldn't decide between the two, and I couldn't even pick a tartan. I realized that I was going to make a foolish decision, just to get a new kilt. So, I've decided to cool my jets until I can finally decide on what a really want.

I have found this board to be a wealth of information about what to purchase, what not to, and the reasons for those. This board was very influential in my kiltedness.

Well when I first came to the board i was dead set on a UK style kilt. Now I am a Tartan man and can't see myself wearing a non tartan kilt. I bought a USA and Bear Kilt as well I don't think i would have bought either if I had never been to this board, I love both as well. I am stuck now as I started play'n Mysic again and am saving up for another Tuba ($3,000) so getting a new kilt is a long shot but I so want a 8+ yard kilt.

I've gotten a great deal of information here on all things kilt. It's a real education and helped me improve on the things I make as well.

I'm not so sure that this site has caused me to buy something I wouldn't have gotten around to, but it sure has dinged my self restraint. I've got to catch up to Ham don-cha-know! As if that was even possible!

This sight has done a great job of educating me so that the things I do buy are of a much better quality than they might have been if I'd never discovered Xmarks. That's not even counting the support on dark days and the fun of sharing on the bright days.

Peer pressure maybe or maybe not. I find that my kilt wearing has changed a bit, to a more relaxed style and I do attribute that to everyone here. As far as purchasing things, it comes down to comparing what experiences everyone has had. My horizons have broadened, and I am finding that I have more choices not only in kilts but sporrans and the like. I have even been inspired to start looking at making my own kilt and sporran, (that is a big step for me) I want more kilts! I have to be practical, because I manage others money as well as my own, I am finding that I have to do cost analysis etc., and giving that justification factor, reading the posts here have helped me in the decision making and will continue to allow me to get more kilts! So yes this forum has turned into a great asset as to my kilting experience.
