Slainte from Portland Oregon!
My friends had a kilt made for me to celebrate my 50th birthday this January 2014. In the process of trying to learn as much as I could about the do's and don'ts of wearing one, I stumbled happily upon this great group of kilt wearers XMarks the Scot! Thanks for all the knowledge I've gained so far and all I will gather in the future!
I only own the kilt, hose, sporran, and flashes, but I as I have learned form reading these past few days, I will be buying lots more accessories... for the rest of my life.

Thomas, a welcome to XMTS from your neighbor. We have a local kilted night off gathering right now the last Tuesday of the month. Watch for a notice shortly, to meet at the Horse Brass Pub on 4534 SE Belmont Street in Portland.

Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts. Don't go overboard too fast. Take your time. A kilt is like pants in that you can wear sweaters, shirts, jackets, waistcoats, (vests), t-shirts and any number of hat-like objects. You don't have to run out and buy them all. See what you feel comfortable with. Enjoy. Don't break the bank!

Welcome, Thomas. Great to have another PDX member on board. Hawk, as usual, beat me to the draw but I'll second his welcome and invitation to come to our very informal night out at the Horse Brass. Feel free to bring any friends who might be interested in the kilt.
