    KIlted at the Opera

Here is one of the pics I promised from my night out at the Opera. I think the uploader shrunk the pic if it's hard to see let me know and I'll try to upload a bigger one somehow. I was wearing my Morrison Ancient heavy weight 8 yard kilt I got from J higgins of Kansas City, with an argyle jacket and belt, a generic tux shirt and bow tie(Which noone told me was crooked at the time Grrr!) , white hose, and Ghillie brogues. I got many positive complements on my kilt. A few odd looks, but hey who cares! Overall, I had a great time and was very well received.

I really have to say opening night at the Opera is not what it use to be. I was rather disappointed by very few number of people wearing formal wear. I was appalled at the large number of jeans and baseball hats I saw as well. I would make comment on how this reflects on our society but I would just further depress myself.

    Looks good.

Too bad formal attire is not in vogue like it used to be. The bright side; if your attire inspired just one person to go with formal dress next time, you could be starting a comeback of style.

You never mentioned which opera you saw. Very important to the story.

Was in at the Metropolitan Opera a couple of years ago, Mozart - Die Zauberflöte, and I could not believe what some were wearing, example sweats pants like what I wear early Saturday morning to hardware store. I actually wonder if the ushers should refuse to seat folks sometimes. The decline of dress code in the US has been stunning.

On the plus side nicely turned out sir. And as other note, perhaps someone will take the hint, but please don't hold your breath.
Just keep doing what you are doing.

    Connaughton
