    Good advice BCAC and Pleater.

I gave the pale greenish blue ribbon a very gentle washing with hand soap and let it dry. The sweat stain is 90% gone. I'll give it another go but it's already far more presentable. either way, you saved me the trouble of replacing the band with dark coloured ribbon.

My military TOS doesn't have a ribbon band, it's just firm wool and it's dark green and now I know why the army made that choice.

Oops, their sizes only go down to 56 cm, may be a good resource for others though.
She also make the historical Jacobite blue bonnet, which is what I was looking for as an alternative to my more conventional Balmoral and band Glen. Due to weather issues, the Christmas present turned into a lovely Valentine's Day present. Pictures to follow.

My head measured between 60 and 61cm. My sweetie got me a 61cm Balmoral for Christmas. I hope it does not shrink, because right now it is exact.
