    Got "dot.Scot"?

Evidently the proposed new Internet domain name is attracting great attention.

interesting! (" there are about 100 million people around the world claiming some degree of Scottish ancestry") & "Mr McCutcheon said he hoped the cost of a .Scot address would be “as low as possible” - about £20".
    Thanks for posting.

I wish them luck in regaining their relatively large investment (£300,000 / $500,000). There are now a gazillion new domain extensions being promoted (as a way for ICANN for build their coffers?) and market saturation may prevail. A few years back the .info and .biz "expansion" domain extensions were supposed to be wonderful - but they never got a real (or respected) foothold.

There are all sorts of new top-level domains coming down the pipes, like .ninja. If .scot does become a reality, I would encourage Steve to get on it and register "xmarksthe.scot" and "xmarksthescot.scot" before anyone else does. ;-)

I think that the number is low on the ancestry. And £20? Prob not.

If you cannot fix it, mess it up so bad that no one else can either.

Another question to ponder, no digression into politics, is what would happen if a ccTLD was to be created for Scotland? Would someone prefer a .scot to the official Scottish TLD? Then of course what is required for obtaining one would be a question. As an example, I have been asked a couple of times for assistance in navigating the path for a .IE domain (Ireland). These domains are expensive and have a lengthy list of requirement (at least as recently as several months ago) and included having nexus in Ireland. This has precluded a few folks I know from having both a .COM and a .IE address as they desired.
