As is understandable on both counts; being well-loved, and being the recipient of such a beautiful gift.

She says the needle size was #8. Yarn was a Heavy Worsted Weight yarn from Knit-Picks from their Andes Del Campo line, colour is Larch Heather. She got the pattern from Knit-Picks as well, it is called the O'Casey Mens Sweater Pattern (Irish Fisherman's pattern).

The back panel, front panel, and each sleeve were knitted separately then all attached by knitting them together with the collar. The raglan sleeves were then stitched up the undersides and to the body, and the front and back stitched together up the sides. As you knitters know there were quite a few loose ends to integrate into the knit on the inside when it was all done as well.

She has knitted two sweaters previous to this one, but this was her first for the cable knitting. She worked on it for nearly a year, stopping when the pattern was getting to her, or she got sick of looking at the same yarn all the time. She would then do a couple of hats, or scarves, or a pair of mittens and then return to my sweater.

Needless to say the next one she makes should go much quicker now that she has the basics of the cabling down pat.

Only if you're a very good boy.

Your wife is one very talented knitter, and you're one very lucky guy.

That is a fabulous job. Congratulations. When I can do something like that I will have considered myself arrived as a knitter. Wow. Good for her.

Ok. I can go with "sweater" too. I thought that I'd learn something from researching the difference. I was wrong. However, yours is very fine indeed. Thank you for the pictures.

Thanks again all, Mrs Standard has been reading your fine comments over my shoulder. She's definitely a keeper! Now if I can just live up to my end of the bargain!
