No, Bear, it's not hard to understand but it is hard not to fall asleep.
And it's a pity that you don't like the crawliest of the creepy-crawlies. You're in a prime location to find them year-round I believe.
Just for you, another arthropod picture.

Personally.... Odonata and hymenoptera a close second.
Also anything in Arachnida which probably stems from some supressed deep inner phobia. My daughter has an extreme case of the real thing.

YES, YES! An arthropoda thread!
I'm particular to the aquatic ones, crustaceans mostly, but 'tain't nothing like spotting a really big dragonfly larva at the bottom of the pond.
On a recent hike on Kauai I came across the biggest centipede I'd ever seen, had to be a good ten inches long. I was seriously impressed and hollered to get the missus over there, who possibly enjoyed the sight more than I did.

I met this little cutie while teaching a First Responder course to an industrial safety team. We used their ICU (Insect Care Unit) for the emergency scenario simulations. She's a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. Isn't she a BEAUTY! :-* :-*

I'm just astounded at how many kilted people seem interested in insects etc.
Just goes to confirm what I already suspected:
You lot are nuts!
And I'm ever so glad for it.

"May contain nuts." (quote from Terry Pratchett, "A Hat full of Sky").
You don't have to be nuts to wear a kilt. It may be helpfull to supernatant the dullness of other people.
Well, I like dung beetles (Geotrupes stercorarius) very much. They are iridescent black beauties and very beneficially. For those who do not know how it looks like here is a chlorinated drawing I made a year or two ago:

The stag beetle belt buckle is nice... Anyone saw a dung beetle belt buckle by chance?

Good point about the dung beetle. I read that without them and other similar creatures, the earth would be covered in S%$t. Makes me wonder why G-d didn't create a metaphorical dung beetle as well.

I'm definitely on topic! I would buy a dung beetle belt buckle if I find one that I realy like. ;)
The kind of cross shown in Your example remindes me of sysmbols my butcherly forefathers misused. Therefore I would never use such a design.
I is nice and likeliest You have no german ancestors. Therefore You are not biased when it comes to celtic symbols.
