Red jackets?

[Manxstralian]

I'm (somewhat) contemplating a jacket and/ or waistcoat in Manx and Hebridean diamond twill:

But part of me thinks waistcoat only, as a contrast to other colours... I think the jacket could look good, especially with my Manx Blue tartan, but it may verge on "clown" territory, which could be a costly mistake. I do like the idea of a burgundy velvet doublet though, if I had the reason to wear it.
