Sometimes a good understanding (big feet) pays off

Being a person of good understanding Ive always valued shoes that fit well. While growing up my brothers would get new shoes which meant I got new boxes to wear. Those first few coatings of shoe polish took some time to set in but once done they shined up well. I outgrew shoes quick and even though my feet have quit growing shoes are still a difficult find. Running shoes change their design every near which means the fit might be different. I wax and wane between 14-15D. If you look at most dress shoes they stop at 13. I have been fortunate to find a few pair out there via the auction sites. This past week gave me an opportunity to pick up a pair of Florsheim Lexington wing tips from Shopgoodwill. These came from an Austin Goodwill store and seem to be never worn. Though they retail for only 110$ they are all leather with a leather and compound sole. My high bid of 40 bucks landed them on my porch yesterday. Add 10 bucks shipping and I got a rather nice pair of wing tips for under half price. When you have big feet you acutally weed out the normal size bidders and have a chance to win a bid. Glad there are some Austin yuppie techs that have big feet.

Congratulations on the great deal on nice shoes!

I understand a little bit about having hard to fit feet, mine are extra wide. Designers seem to think all women have narrow feet! I can sometimes find wides but they tend to be available only in the more expensive lines and online. I certainly have a problem buying shoes online because I really need to try them on.

Yikes! I reckon it would be pretty difficult to find shoes. Do the "big and tall" stores carry extra large shoes?

I have the opposite problem. Most shoe manufacturers start their men's sizes at 8. I wear a 6-1/2 or 7, depending on the make. It's frustrating to not be a "normal" size.

Sometimes. It's usually one pair of the ugliest shoes that they carry.

Or a pair of 18s that they never sold in 1992.
