    Thank you Mr. Smethurst!

    Hi

It seems a former dustman (trash collector) in UK spent his time grabbing up discarded pictures and memorabilia from WW I as he went about his rounds in the 70s and 80s. He now has a rather magnificent collection; the Telegraph has a photo spread on it today. First pic shows kilted soldiers in the trenches; there may be other kilts in the set as well as well.

The link is HERE and will take you to the first of 20 pics. Be sure to read the captions at the bottom of each.

This is the Centenary of the Great War; take a moment to remember them.
(A wee dram while listening to Eric Bogle's "No Man's Land" is also recommended.)

Dramatic, impressive, and moving photos. "What a hell of way to die." Thanks for the pointer.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Fascinating. I would love to see the entire collection.

Very important and worthwhile effort. A tip of the hat to Mr. Smethurst. We will remember them.

Indeed, a valuable record of the history of the time rescued and preserved for posterity, hopefully. And a tribute to the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice in securing our future. A debt for all time.
    Regards, Sav.
