Regimental ties

Although a bit pricy - the Ben Silver Company in Charleston has a great collection of neckwear. I have several and they stand the test of time. http://www.bensilver.com/Fine-Neckwear.html

With the exception of Barbour, that's where all my neckwear comes from!

I often wear my Glasgow University graduate tie (Black with narrow marigold stripes), a Masonic tie, Air Training Corps Regimental tie (Navy blue with small ATC wings arranged in diagonal lines), and the City of Glasgow Police Heritage Society tie (navy with gold and royal blue stripes and a small representation of the older City of Glasgow Police helmet plate which contained the city coat of arms) with my Kilt.

I only own three ties. A black bow tie for 'black tie', a black necktie for funerals, and a university tie. I find I have no need for any others.

Until I get a kilt in a family tartan (the saga goes on, I may end up with a custom weave) I shall just have to be an honorary Macpherson. I hope you and your kin don't mind, Kyle, but after all it is a beautiful tartan.

The ABF Tie goes with just about any tartan, I have one and love it. It really works well with a kilt.

My father was in the Royal Horse Artillery (yes, when they still rode horses in the early 1930's) but the tie doesn't really go with our tartan. I do like the Irish Regiment tie though and will wear that on occasion as a nod to my Irish ancestors.

I was not in the military, and no prestigious schools in my background. I did not come from "money" and while we do well, we are by no means prosperous. I have always had suit and tie jobs, and have a wide variety of ties. I will wear whatever I think is best with whatever else I have on.

I have a number of Jerry Garcia ties that are bold and bright and look good against solid color shirts. I have a nice one on today as a matter of fact, and only knew it was a Garcia by looking at the back. The color is difficult to describe, but it is shades of purple with white and medium blue stripes. I'm wearing it with a medium blue shirt that I often wear kilted.

A favorite of mine with my small check tatersalls is a trout fishing tie.

My next highland dress event is the tartan parade in NYC April 5. I will of course be marching (to the best of my limited ability) with the Campbell Clan Society - North America.

Frank
