A sincere thanks for the suggestion, TheOfficialBren.
It's all good, my friend. No hard feelings and thank you for clarifying. Wear your kilt and hats in good health.

The whole debate about how to wear and what to wear with the kilt has very often provided thought provoking fodder for this website that I always enjoy reading.

Heck we could've been talking about my friend here, who has taken the kilt to a whole new place.

But never forget that a man in a kilt always has a certain distinct advantage over a man in trousers.

Wear what you like. Wear it with confidence and flair. Don't give it a second thought.

I wouldn't have a problem with the baseball cap and kilt in some settings, being a parade spectator is one of them. However much like some have said to follow the same rules for kilts that you would for trousers, I also generally apply the rules above the waist. You mentioned wearing a sweater, so what kind of hat would you generally wear with a sweater? Ball cap or flat cap? That is probably a better indication of attire.

I haven't tried it yet, but this thread has gotten me interested in trying my Stormy Kromer with a kilt.

As someone who wears a kilt every day of his life, I will give my two cents.

I have worn a Glengarry, a blamoral, a greed tweed flat cap, a black tween flat cap, and a cowboy hat but not the boots (that's for you room2ndfloor...lol). I have not worn a baseball cap with my kilts and would not do so no matter what. I have also gone hat/capless many a time.

So wear a flat cap if you choose and don't worry so much about it.

This is sound advice that can be applied to many many aspects of ones life, be it clothing or anything else, dance to the beat of your own drum... all others be damned. We might only get one go around at life so best live it as YOU see fit
