I will have to try to find a tie that does that with some red to wear with the Lamont kilt, which has no red, but that doesn't suggest that I'm associated with a regiment that I am not.
A tough proposition.
The ABF(Army Benevolent Fund) tie, a UK charity, should fit the bill perfectly. Anyone can wear wear it with a clear mind and the proceeds go to a very worthy cause. Many members here wear it and there is a past thread wih pictures of assorted members wearing the tie with many and various tartans. There are various places to buy the tie online, but try Smart Turnout as a suggestion.

If anyone is interested I have acquired a dozen Regimentally styled ties that we are calling the Canadian Highland Brigade tie. The tie (picture below) is in heather green and thistle purple with a sharp looking gold Canadian flag incorporated. I think it looks great with highland daywear. $45 Cdn including shipping. PM if you are interested.

I think that they (regimental striped ties) are definitely in the "old fart" category... which I why I love, and suit, mine!

I've got alot of ties, I used to work in one daily and variety was the spice of life. I don't have to wear them now so when I choose to wear one it's generally either one of my own Regimental / former unit tie variants or my Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) tie. The great thing about the ABF and being kilted, is it goes with just about everything.

I must say John, that is a perfectly tied (Windsor knot, I assume?) necktie! Well done!

I think striped ties are the best-looking ties for kiltwearing.
It used to be very difficult to find them going the British direction here, but now they're common. For years I've worn a simple one, dark blue with white stripes, that I bought in Japan. I bought it because the stripes were going the 'right' way, and I'd not seen such here in the USA at that time.
The only 'real' British striped tie I'm entitled to wear is my RSCDS tie, if even that one (because I'm no longer a member, though I was for many years).
This is the tie I usually wear; it belonged to my late Father-in-Law and I wear it in tribute to him (who exemplified the Greatest Generation ). No-one has ever recognized it

It's the WWII victory ribbon. I have a similar tie for the NDSM.
