Introducing myself after lurking a while.
Hello Ladies & Gents,
Let me introduce myself, I am a happily married father of 4 little ones (currently 9, 7, 5, & 3), and owner of 2 Chocolate Labs (currently 11 months & 4 months). I am a computer guy by trade and a musician at heart. I went to school as a Bassoon Major and ended up switching to computers when I realized Bassoonists are not in great demand. I still play many instruments, and look forward to adding the Highland and Uilleann pipes to that list soon.
I am a Kennedy, and we always assumed of the Irish ancestry, however, once I started completing more of the ancestry puzzle pieces, we are almost certainly part of the Scottish Kennedys. I certainly have Irish & Welsh, but in other lines. I have a brick wall Kennedy ancestor that I have yet to find(prove) his parents, however the where's & when's all lead to Scotland. I have verifiable Scot in my ancestry in the Clan/Family names: Banks, Pae, Ritchie, Allan, Parrat, Cameron, McCurdy(Makuredy), MacNeil, & Lithgow. My wife is a McIntire.
I recently purchased my first kilt at our most recent Phoenix Highland Games (a Black Utilikilt), and have been on here reading all I can since, especially the DIY section. I am greatly looking forward to working on my own Sgian Dubh(s) & Sporrans soon, and am getting closer daily to getting a Kennedy Modern 8-yard.
My wife and I will be going to Scotland in May of 2015 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, and so we are both doing as much research as we can before going. We ill be going with my wife's aunt & uncle, who live in Illinois and have been to Scotland many times. Incidentally, her uncle is the Clan Minstrel for Clan Rose, so we will be visiting both Kennedy & Rose castles for sure.
I have greatly enjoyed reading all of the threads I have read so far, and look forward to participating in all the fun going forward. Thank all of you for creating such a great resource and gathering place!
