Springtime in Texas — the annual bluebonnet photo of Molly Kate

It's kind of become a tradition of mine to post our annual bluebonnet photo of our girl on the forum, so here goes... This year, the bluebonnets were fairly good. I took this of our now 6-year-old Molly Kate in Brenham, Washington County, Texas (where I grew up).

Lots of beautiful wildflowers of many different types currently blooming across Texas. Hope you'll have the chance to enjoy them!

    Beautiful! (The flowers too!)

Great photo as always, Shaun! Your tradition of posting it here is actually something I look forward to each year.

The Brenham area always has great bluebonnets. We get some scattered ones out here, but nothing like the pastures full of them that you get over there. Supposedly out here in the Hill Country we used to get a lot of them (they are a popular subject of paintings from the mid-1900s, especially by the likes of Robert Wood who was famous for his Hill Country bluebonnet landscapes). But the drought we've had going on here for the last 10 years has been hard on them.

There's nothing quite as beautiful as a field full of bluebonnets. I hope Molly Kate grows up to truly appreciate these yearly photos.

Not sure which is more beautiful--the flowers or your daughter! Well Done!

Shaun: You've got a real heart breaker there - the prettiest flower in the field. When she gets old enough you can tell her about the many admirers she has in cyber space. She'll probably tell you something like, "Oh Daddy! How could you?"

What a beauty Molly is! Especially in a field of Texas Bluebonnets.
Just recently I was in the midst of making a kilt in the Texas Bluebonnet tartan for a girl in Texas to wear for her first highland dance competition.
I couldn't resist posting a picture of this pretty tartan...
