Wot's all this then?
The Grand Rabble? Did I hear that right? Oi deeze guys might just be ok.
Hi I'm Hoot. The basic statistics are 53, 5'11" and in shape as long as you figure round is a shape. 3 kids 24F, 21M, 21M and a grand F. The last name is Scott, but I'm not sure how far removed from Scotland it is, my Father's side isn't well known to me but rumored to be Welsh. On my Mom's side she was a StClair who in 1760 or so came to SW Pa., USA. from County Tyrone in Ireland, and since they were Protestant I suspect they were involved in the whole Scot's Irish thing possibly going to Ireland coming from near the Orkney's? There's also MacDowell in the mix there. I will say that it's pretty cool to see an ancestral name on a road sign which happens a lot with StClair here in the States.
There's an annual festival that celebrates a battle of the French & Indian war in the town where I grew up and Pipers were always in abundance. There are also Highland games held near there.
For money I write computer code that makes them do stuffs.
For fun I like to learn. When my shop isn't in storage, I dabble in a number of things, mechanics, woodwork, metalwork, making things.
A sense of heritage drew me to the kilt initially at least as formal wear, although mine is a modest Sport Kilt. Since reading some here, I realize that the rise is off for a proper fit.
Here's a photo from My Daughter's wedding:

Yes, I knew it was a mix of very formal and daywear, but it doesn't look too bad in all. You can also take solace in the temperature that day was around 95F so I consider myself punished for that.
I've found that kilts are well accepted at parties and pubs. I usually wear a white, grey, or green shirt in the guide shirt style. I wore a black western style shirt out one night and had a woman ask me if I was from Western Scotland.
Oh, yeah, I also learned here that I need to go get some colored hose. ;) See, I do like to learn. Maybe some nice Argyle ones would do.

I have also just come to realize I need some colored stockings as well. I've been just wearing white and it just doesn't look quite right to me with colored shirts.
