    Newbie from Michigan, hi!

Hi all! My name is Tim and I grew up in Detroit, born in 1970. I grew up with Scottish ancestry on both sides of the family.

My Grandfather was born in Ayrshire and immigrated here in 1907 when he was 12 or so. My mother's side is mostly scots consisting of Clarks, Carswells, and Boggs(Scots-Irish from my understanding) and they came to North and South Carolina in the late 17th and early 18th century. If you're a bluegrass fan, my great uncle is Dock Boggs.

My Grandfather unfortunately died a long time before I was born, but not before instilling intense pride in my father for our heritage. It obviously rubbed off on me and I finally can afford , and bought, a kilt, even though just a semi-traditional one.

My Family surname is McClive, which from years of research I've come to understand was formerly MacClive. I'm still trying to find solid proof of what clan we would belong to or which tartan would be appropriate.
I just figured I'd go with the MacCorquodale connection since that was easy to find and is a sept of MacLeod. My Great Grandfather MacCorquodale, on my Grandma's side came to Windsor around the turn of the century and served in the Canadian-scots regiment in World War 1. I chose the Macleod tartan to honor that connection.

The main reason I bought my first kilt is because both of my daughters are engaged and I would like to give them away in my family's correct kilt. I still regret not wearing a kilt at my own wedding and so does my wife and she has encouraged me to do it for our daughter's wedding.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. This seems like a great bunch here and I look forward to learning more and getting to know you gentlemen!

Thanks if you read this far, Tim McClive
