This is a correct description of PV, Poly Viscose: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=47164

Allen linked to one that erroneously implies that its all viscose/rayon.
It's mostly polyester for strength and drape. The viscose is for an ability to hold a crease.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I have been wearing kilts 90% of the time for over five years now. I have 13 kilts; 4 wool and the rest PV. I am known at work as the kilt guy and I honestly believe it has helped me in my career. I am always amazed when I wear bifurcated garments how people either don't recognize me or actually complain that I am not kilted. I got some razzing in the beginning, but I haven't heard a negative comment in three plus years. There was a lady who use to complain when I didn't wear a kilt because she couldn't look at my legs, but she is no longer with the company.

Coming late, but another fulltimer here! Since 2005 - 9 years now. At work (nursing) I may not wear my kilts for hygiene reasons, but the other time - no P@nts for me!

Good on ya! Other than work at the Fire Station, I'm kilted!

I do wear kilts with the Fire Dept Honor Guard though. That should count for something...

I was a full time kilt wearer for 5 years. I was laid off my place of work and when I started working at my next job the kilt was not an option, moving machinery etc. After that I switched to wearing a kilt at home and for special occasions. I have collected 18 kilts several sporrans jackets and hose. Mostly I would wear the kilt in a smart day wear style something like this to go to work:

Of course for other occasions I would wear a tshirt or polo shirt with it

I found after a while I would not wear the sgian dubh or flashes/garter ties as much, it became rather more about comfort than anything else. I still enjoy wearing the kilt and will wear one for any reason at all.

The freedom of movement is one of the real pleasures of wearing a kilt, which is otherwise only available in stretchy athletic wear, for a man anyway; one of the reasons I choose to work in a kilt when I can.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I'm impressed this thread is going on as long as it has been. I wish people here wore kilts. I never see anyone wearing them.

In general, most of us are an island of one wherever we live. While we might get together with other kilt wearers from time to time, we're usually the only person in a kilt anyone will see on a given day. Don't despair! When you start wearing your kilt, no one else in your town will be able to say "I wish people here wore kilts. I never see anyone wearing them."
