Forbes or Lamont?

Found it in my Db. It's HOE's Dress Watch, a 2003 sett 'Introduced as a fashion tartan by the House of Edgar to provide a photogenic pattern similar to the Black Watch.'

But why would HOE "invent" a tartan that's nearly exactly like Forbes (#59) the only difference being a tiny smidge of green between the white and its reinforcing black lines? Why not just do a run of Forbes?

So they can claim copyright, something they do this with all their tartans. It's not so much about the pattern but about being able to claim the name and so gain commercial advantage.

Wow.

Hey I have a great idea! I've just come up with a great concept for a new fashion tartan! I'll call it "Golden Black Watch" and it will be the Black Watch tartan with a yellow stripe centered in the green.
