Driving In A Kilt

I've often thought it'd be fun ti ride in the kilt, but I'm not sure how I'd keep things.... erm, secured for sea, so to speak. ;-)

I'd welcome any advice on that subject as well.

Well, I hate to be "that guy" but I have some humorless advice.

I know each rider assumes whatever level of risk he or she is comfortable with and I can appreciate being in the wind, but my personal take is ATGATT (all the gear all the time).

I high-sided in 2003 and totaled the bike. Luckily, I got away with minor injuries but my leathers . . . yikes!

After seeing what the road did, even at relatively low speed, to my leathers and my helmet, I cringe to imagine what it would've done to my skin.

I don't know how much abrasion resistance wool has, but considering a kilt could fold or roll up to the waist and expose everything to the asphalt . . . again, yikes!

I appreciate the concern for my well being, and I know where it's coming from, as I too believe firmly in being appropriately geared for the ride. That being said, sometimes "The Ride" is simply a casual cruise that doesn't (in my personal assessment, YMMV) necessitate being fully geared up. Sometimes, the fun outweighs the risk. Let's face it, if it didn't, none of us would ride at all, because there is always some inherent risk as soon as you pop up the kick stand. Trust me, I won't be dragging a knee on The Dragon without leather and pucks between me and the pavement. ;-)

I drove the Dragon in my mini van. Man, what a ride! I almost wished I didn't have any doors so that I could have used my knee.
