I know someone will bite on this line...

Morgan Spurlock. Kilted. He bought some land in Scotland. An amusing article. Totally worthy of a raspberry at the same time.

In order to put his theory to the test, Spurlock purchased land from Highland Titles and obtained the legitimate right to style himself as Lord Morgan Spurlock of Glencoe.
What a load of rubbish, this guy has no more right to call himself Lord Morgan Spurlock of Glencoe than any of the rest of us here.
Fake Scots titles are a well known scam, all you get for your money is a worthless certificate.

Is this guy really such an idiot or was he just making mischief to see if any of his readers were daft enough to fall for it?

I believe that the entire thing is intended as a joke...unfortunately, many people will take it seriously.

I've seen these bogus titles up for sale all over and from all over.

    Silliness.

Reviewing his oeurve to date, I think the latter. It's his trademark.

Bren , so true . I first seen these dubious titles for sale back in the early 90's , however , they may have existed before that . Bogus advertisements to buy a square foot of land and become a " Laird " .

On a side note , I have a couple of titles that were bestowed upon me by friends and co-workers that I would love to sell .

Although , no one would want them !

In Britain you can call yourself whatever you want. There is one character who calls himself "King Arthur." You can legally change your name. I can call myself "Lord" but officially I would be Mr. Lord....
