Second...the personel officer told me today that if I want to wear a kilt on the longer trips to go right ahead! She figures I might take some heat from other drivers, but to do what I was comfortable with. Guess I need to start saving for a UK now.
Good news on the job front Al. Congrats! Hopefully it will bring you out our way sometime.
Before you order a UK, why not check out R kilts or Freedom Kilts. Both are Canadian so there is no currency exchange to worry about, especially considering that our dollar is still lower than the US.

Al,
I agree with Colin about the Rkilts and Freedomkilts.
I have been looking at Rkilts for the quality of work and as soon as I can convience my wife that a solid colour will look good I will be ordering one.

If you put away a loonie here and a toonie there, you will have your kilt in no time.

I have to say that it looks like Freedomkilts solved a couple of my complaints about Utilikilts (they come with a wider apron, buttons on the waist, and uni-directional pleats like trad. kilts).

Bcmtnbka and I had a chance to talk to Wizard of BC in the chat room yesterday. He mentioned that one of the things he did when designing his kilts, was to take all the things he liked about some kilts, and to change all the things he didn't like about other kilts. If I am not mistaken, delivery time was fairly short too. I would love to hear from someone that has ordered one or already has one.
Congrats again Al.G good news on both fronts.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely have a look at the Canadian kilts before I make a final decision. The new Freedom kilts look quite nice. Unfortunately it won't be until after Christmas at the earliest as I have a ton of bills to look after before I start buying more kilts. Not having an income for most of this past year has really cut into my savings, and we've gone heavily into debt.
I won't be heading west anytime soon as I have absolutely no mountain driving experience. It will be next spring or summer at the earliest before they send me to Vancouver.
And no, I did not wear the kilt to my interview.
However...the personel manager is the g/f of a biker friend of mine, and she'd seen me in my kilt at the bike rally in August.
