Thanks Nathan. As it states on his business card, Mike is a Gobha. I am more than happy to support local artisans to keep this level of craftsmanship alive.

Thanks Mike. I am over-joyed with it. It is truly a work of art. I will wear it in my kilt hose always, during the day at Highland Games and in the evening at St. Andrews Day Balls and Burns Nichts.

Very nice! I really love Mike's work. I have a SG that he did, and a friend has a dirk from him.

Allen: Elegant craftsmanship - a beautiful sgian dubh. I love the rosewood/brass combo and the intricate metalwork. Congratulations.
Personally, I don't like too sharp an edge on my sgian dubh. I am well aware of the old saw about more easily cutting yourself with a dull edge, but that applies to functional knives. I view the sgian dubh as mostly ornamental, and I don't want to gash my leg.
John
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Thanks John!
I agree that if the sgian dubh is purely ornamental, a stainless steel blade, or indeed no blade at all, would be fine. But for me, I'm very happy with the look and feel of mine and knowing that it's also a functional knife.
