Sad day on the Rez when Chester walked on. Does bring to mind that many Navajo men fought in Europe too. One lost friend was first in on D-Day as a combat engineer. Because he was "Chief" they put him out front to scout through the fierce fighting in the hedgerows. Sadly, he nursed a resentment because the Code Talkers got recognition and he and his European Theater Navajos did not. Which was fiercer fighting - Europe or the Pacific? They were all brave men who served a country that didn't even allow them to vote at that time.
