Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question about Ardalanish. I spent a lovely week in Bunessan a few years ago and visited Ardalanish twice during our stay. The tweeds were incredible and all from sheep they had raised on the croft. They also sold their own beef, which was some of the very best I have ever tasted.
That was before the founders and original owners "retired" and sold the business on to someone else. I don't know anything about the new owners or their business model.
However, I can recommend you to Roger and Andrea at the Isle of Skye Weavers in Glendale in the north end of the island. They both worked at Ardalanish for many years and went out on their own, with Bob Ryan's (founder of Ardalanish) support and encouragement. They are very genuine people and their tweeds are equal in quality to the best in the business. I would not hesitate to recommend them you for a moment. You can find them here:
