Never! They are as handsome, traditional and versatile as ever.

Yes. People need to stop wearing taxidermy as clothing.

Historically, as I understand it, there never was a King or Queen of Scotland.
The Scottish monarch was King/Queen of Scots...precisely for the reason Nathan has stated.
Just a thought...

Sorry BCAC, I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way - No offense is intended - but I couldn't help but notice that your post, up in the header section, shows you are located in France.
So if I follow your argument to its logical conclusion - shouldn't you take off your kilt and instead wear a Beret?
I don't know your personal situation, but if you have children or grandchildren and they are born in France, would you raise them to recognize their Scottish heritage, or shun it?
Again, absolutely no offense is intended!

I only take issue with your mixing me up with BCAC. He's a fine gent, but we are rather far apart on this particular topic.

OOPS!!! What I get for changing what I write without proofing carefully. I started with "I agree with Don and Nathan", but screwed up when I tried to edit. Sorry!!!!

Invercauld's lovely Scottish Wildcat sporran.
Guests of the Clan Macpherson at our annual gathering in Badenoch a few years back. Note the badger sporran.
Some great shots here. I think a well done badger mask makes a particularly attractive sporran. The proportions are very good and the fur and colour pattern are visually interesting.

I think so too, Nathan. I think my next full-mask sporran would be a badger (European species) with a plain brass cantle. Made by Kate Macpherson, naturally.

It's a nice sporran but you should really hold out for a Scottish Wildcat... it is your destiny.

Thank you, Nathan ~ for once again hitting the nail so succinctly on the head .
Once, in a discussion about national identity, somebody once asked me what my definition of being a Scot was. I answered him that if you could put your hand on your heart and say you were a Scot, then in my eyes you were a Scot.

Tom, don't be silly now! We're talking about being from where we were born and bred, not where we happen to be living. I moved to France for work, but I am a Scotsman born and bred and will stay a Scotsman till the day I die.
I have a daughter who was born in France. She knows of her Scottish heritage (of course) but she is French. She was born and bred in the South of France and is a French girl from the town of Nîmes.
To bring the post back on topic, I just recieved my full mask pole cat sporran from Kate MacPherson and I am delighted with it.
