Hello one and all, geetings from West Calder in West Lothian, Scotland.
Thank you for the welcome note,
I have been following the forum for some time now and I am impressed by the attitude and resourcefulness of its members.
People who seem willing to experiment with materials and to produce their own kilts and accessories........much as things would have been done in the past.
Unlike the mass produced products that are sold throughout Scotland and the rest of the world...which look the part but would not survive the rigors of more frequent use.
It seems ironic that apart from a handful of artisan craftsman making kilt accessories such as sporran's that inspiration to make my own comes from people out side Scotland such as the "Articifer" & the forum members.
To that end I have embarked on a project to make a brass, fully functioning sporran cantle.
Having never done any metal work before and having a limited budget (£ not a lot ) and few tools, it may take a while.....I will let you all know how it progresses !!.
Thank you for the inspiration....keep up the good work.
Regards,
Stuart Gray (jock Gray ).
