Lately my 3 year old has been asking to go into the workshop with me. So I've spent some time with him, going over hand tool use and making things appropriate to a 3 year old's interests and attention span.
The last few times, he's wanted to go down into the shop dressed like his dad, thekiltedwoodworker. Who am I to say no?
(Sorry, couldn't get him to pose without the goofy face. He is three.)
Unfortunately, he's quickly out-growing his kilt and the guy I bought it from only stocks sizes up to 2-3 years, so I need to start looking for a source for the next size up.
The other day he asked me if he could wear his kilt to school. It's a Montessori school, so he has freedom to do lots of creative things there. But they frown upon the kids wearing things that are "distractions", which that would certainly qualify for. But, most importantly, he plays rough and they have a full acre yard to play in. He is hard on his clothes and I'd rather he not run his kilt through the ringer. So I was hesitant in my response...
Finley: Dadda, can I wear my kilt to school?
Me: Well... I don't think so, bud.
Finley: Please! I'll even wear underwear, I promise!
hehe... it was a nice try, though, wasn't it?
