    Dry Cleaning vs Machine Washing

    Hello one and all,

apologies if this question has been asked before. I own 3 kilts, two are PV and one if 100%. I know that PV kilts are designed to be machine washed, however, I was thinking of having them dry cleaned instead.

Does anyone know which method is better for PV kilts or is it purely a matter of choice?

I have found two companies in London that specialise in dry cleaning kilts, so I know they will be looked after.

If it helps, I wear them mainly at the weekend (weather permitting) out and about in town, going shopping and a lot when I'm DJing or out with my mates (I'm very careful about spillages and as of yet have not had anything other than the occasional drip on them).

If they're still fairly clean, just sponge 'em and hang them to dry. Avoid major cleaning either wet or dry.

While you're at it, the search engine may be your friend here on XMarks.

    Cheers!

If I recall correctly, dry cleaning should be avoided with the PV kilts to avoid messing with the Teflon coating.

I have only machine washed my PV kilt ( and cotton blend ones), then I give then a couple of really good, sharp snaps ( holding onto the waist) to straighten out the pleats, then hang to dry. Seem to recall some folks posting that they clip on some type of weights, to the pressed edge of the pleats, while drying.
