Sorry, Father - but with the greatest respect - to comparatively describe what is happening in Scotland today as mere "contemporary contention" diminishes both what happened in the historical American Colonies in the 1770's and what is happening in today's Scotland.

Thanks and God bless, Father Bill, not all down here even remember the first Revolution.

Yet, there are still many of us who will never forget the sacrifices and adventures of those intrepid souls who built America - or indeed, the heartbreaking eradication and losses of the Native American People.

I think Father Bill is right on, and I don't read it as a condescension regarding the issue. I'll add that the Confederacy attempted the same grasp at freedom, but lost to superior financing.

I'm part Choctaw Indian, so I feel free to tell you to read the Declaration of Independence and see what our Founding Fathers had to say about "Native American People", meaning some of my forebearers. The same depredations went on out here in the west as the colonial east coast.

BTW, it was the Scots who gave Indians the moccasin. My Indian forebearers neither had the moccasin nor the wheel before Europeans showed.
