how to make a sport coat into a kilt jacket

I am pretty good at tailoring but the said coat is harris tweed so I do not want to screw it up. ( or in this case, needle it up!)

There are a number of good threads on this topic found with the search feature (or if you like, you can use Google's advanced search to only search this site).

Here's one I find helpful because of the step by step photos--- http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-jacket-30726/

See the tutorial forum for more info. From what I've learned elsewhere on-line, you'll get the best results starting with a jacket with no vents, or double vents, but not single vents, which tend to gape. Patch pockets can be moved to the best location, you're stuck with set-in pockets.
