Excellent idea! I did the same thing when a photo of yours truly wearing Highland Dress (during the annual Clan Macpherson Gathering and Rally) appeared in an issue of the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald.

Thank you all for the compliments, Nathan and I were discussing the fact that we both owe a debt to this community. When I got here I would not have had the wherewithal to pull of this look. I daresay we both would fit in at any number of Highland games throughout the globe, regardless our country of origin.

It's refreshing, given that the media around here usually focuses in on the most eccentric people they can find, rather than well-dressed people.
Thanks Richard, I think this is an important point, as we were walking the grounds we saw a litany of kilt don'ts from kilts being worn to low to people looking like extras in Brigadoon and others wearing Utilikilts too low (which have their place though to my mind a highland games is not one of them). It was good to be able to show people how it should be done with regards to TCHD. I had several people ask for my picture during the day and was complimented by everyone I talked to.

This is precisely what took place when myself, Todd (Macwilkin), and his best mate Mark attended the St. Louis Scottish Highland Games in September 2013. Glen, I seriously think all 5 of us need to get together and attend a Highland Games in the near future! What fun that would be!

    Yours truly, Todd, and Mark.

All 5 of us in the future! Hahaha!

    Kindest regards,

Glengarry Highland Games is August 1 and 2 and is the North American Pipe Band Championships. Great times. Campsites a plenty.

Fergus Highland Games is the following weekend (August 8 and 9) and is likewise a grand occasion with camping available.

If you have any money left over from your recent fun in the sun, hop in a car and join us!

Now, there's a splendid idea! We are only a short, 7 hour drive from Fergus. Maxville is an 11 hour drive, so just a wee bit further. Of course, we could always fly into Toronto. These are grand ideas for the future, because unfortunately my vacation days are tapped out for this summer.

Leave Friday night after work and I'll help you put up your tent when you get in. Drive home Sunday!

For sure. I've had lots of questions answered and think I make sartorial choices with the confidence that comes from discussing the minutia in detail with the fine and knowledgeable members of this community.

Lets not forget if you were to come up for the games staying in Toronto for Tartan Tuesday would be advisable.

If you're out of vacation days, no problem but a 7 hour drive is nothing. That's like from here to Montreal! Come up to Fergus and you won't miss a day's work!
