First sporran attempt. View at your own risk heh

So I was in the mood for a DIY project so I gave a whack at a jean sporran. Looks horrid but I'm proud I suffered through to the end. Hopefully my next attempt won't look like it came from a Scots nightmare. And since "pics or it didn't happen" :IMAG0155.jpg

Good first attempt, JD.

One observation, well, I suppose two really.

A little bit more attention to detail when it comes to the stitching will make a vast improvement to the look.

OR

Use a darker thread (same colour as the material), then it doesn't matter if any errors creep in.

All in all - Well Done, I think!

Thank you! I was tryin to make it look a little more decorative with the white thread. Guess I forgot to factor in that I haven't sewn in years and therefore was all thumbs. hah I'm gonna go a more simple route for my next attempt, I think. (I have a habit of delving headfirst into the most elaborate thing I can think of)

I came across this idea many years ago when I had to modify and make a 'hippy' outfit for my son for school.

Do the main stitching with a machine first, then any fancy stitching and decoration afterwards.

That way the decoration isn't also holding it all together. If it needs to be removed for any reason, the sporran will still hold together.

My patience comes and goes. This was the result of my hard drive crashing, and having to install an old one, run 10 different adware and virus removers, and redownload my games and things. I had to have something to do while I waited so I thought: Why not sporran? haha

Looks horrid but so did my first one. Next time use a cardboard homemade pattern (draw half of the shape, cut it out then gold it and cut off the excess.
