    Double Check the Laundry

    I didn't.

My new Locharron Lovat Green wool socks are now a fine pair of felted mini socks.

    Wrong sort.

Oh well, lesson learned. Good laugh too.

Casey, you need to do what I did. I have a separate basket for wool.

We do have a seperate basket for cold water wash, but it doesn't do a damn bit of good if you don't sort correctly.

    Hence, DOUBLE CHECK!

My wife sorted and I washed, and dried. DUH! We both folded and had a good laugh.

We have a frontloading washer which has a true gentle cycle. I would suggest those with toploaders, with an agitater hand wash.

And, what ever you do DON'T put them in the drier, like I did. Unless of course, you are looking for a wool war club.

Sorry to hear about your new ankle-high socks.

A tip I learned for those with top loading/agitating machines is to put your wool socks in a mesh bag.

I keep the bags with the laundry basket. As soon as I take the socks, or anything else that needs special attention, off it goes in the bag. Then there is no mistaking anything in the laundry room.

You can find mesh bags in almost any Wal-Mart type store.

The socks hang dry on a wooden bar in the laundry room and the bag is tossed in the empty laundry basket to go back upstairs.

    Good tip, Thanks.

I usually just wash my kilt hose, and then hang them to dry.
