    Locating Tartans

I was considering making a few more kilts for friends and I, but this time perhaps in a tartan. As quite a few of us are US Army, I was thinking to go with that tartan. Where would be a good place to get some Poly/Cotton blend US Army tartan cloth that won't cost me $600 for 6 yards?

From USA Kilts website, as regards the Army tartan:
USA Kilts is the only company that has permission from the designer to weave this tartan in anything other than wool.
It would appear your course of action should be to contact Rocky at USA Kilts (an advertiser here on XMarks, and highly recommended by many forum members) about obtaining Army tartan cloth in P/V (Poly/Viscose - essentially a polyester and rayon blend).

I would second the USA Kilts as a source. I have a US Army semi-trad from Rocky, and it looks and wears great.

I have contacted this seller, hopefully he sells it by the yard, as I enjoy the sewing.

Alas, he does not sell the fabric by the yard, which means I will have to work in wool. Which ranges from $86 to $99 a yard. I will have to bow out of that endeavor, as that's a bit much for my hobby budget.

I do understand you're coming at this from a hobbyist standpoint of wanting to sew your all's own, but if, down the road, you all want kilts in the Army tartan, USAK's Casual and Semi-Trads are great products are very fairly priced for what you get.

Good luck in your future endeavors!
