    I would pick a traditional Scottish made tank. I have 4 casual kilts already, but think that a traditional will be my next purchase. That will likely be sometime from now, but it will happen in time.

    Now that I've got yesterdays flippant answer out of the way...I would choose a well made "traditional style" tartan first, whether it be from Scotland, or from Bear or USAkilts as first choice over the contemporary designs. I think a traditional kilt is actually more versatile than the contemporary kilts. I can wear my Strathmore kilt with a "T" and hiking boots with pushed down socks as casual or I can wear kilt hose, shirt and Tie for semi-formal and if I ever need to I can get a PC and bow tie for formal. Few of my contemporary kilts look okay with a shirt and tie let alone with a jacket for more formal settings.
