    Cheers,
    Thanks, both of you.

The hills are my passion and I realise how very lucky I am to be able to indulge in them so easily. They give me physical exercise, good friends, room to breathe and think, and the opportunity and ability to completely remove myself from the travails of everyday life.

...Oh, and a good excuse for strapping on a kilt

Lovely photos, Andrew, the landscape looks very similar to Scotland!

I love the look on the face of the chap in the second picture.

Very well said! The reasons for your passion are precisely why my family and I have always gone to the mountains and wild places in general.

Alan, being the OP of this thread, I feel you must give an honorable ( or infamous ) mention to this photo capturing the "coloring outside of the lines" example of a "kilted action shot".....

Calgacus, I love your hill walking shots. Reminds me of my own home mountains here in Washington state. I used to spend a lot of time there, and I am getting inspired to get back on the trail, this time kilted!

This past June Jennifer and I intended to go to the Dakotas but a family visit in Texas became a priority. My dad is getting older and my brother and his wife and kids were all meeting down there. My sister lives close to my dad so we decided to head down to Texas with a detour to the panhandle for some camping. Palo Duro canyon is quite an amazing area of Texas and the United States. It is one of the largest canyons except for the Grand Canyon. It has quite a long history long beyond the early days of the white man moving in. One of the unique things about Palo Duro is you drive into it and camp, hike, bike, run, etc in the canyon, not on the rim. So the hikes can take you from the bottom up or the top down depending where you start. Here are a few shots of us hiking. When camping I usually am in my El Kommando kilts or my Stillwater Economy wool Blackwatch kilt. The weather was mild for Texas summer. We had one day that reached 90 and nights were in the low 60's to upper 50's, perfect for sleeping in a tent.

First hike is from the rim visitor area down into the canyon. It was called a difficult hike but we have trail run on much more difficult. It did have some spectacular views.

    Jennifer on an high point.

Trading places an I've got the same background.

Me on one of our hikes around the bottom of the canyon.

The smile says it all, you dont have to ask why I enjoy being with Jennifer so much.

When we car camp we do it in style and comfort.

    Shower included.

Some cactus flowers, they were blooming everywhere

Just a photo of the beautiful canyon landscape.

One last fun photo or me with my brothers wife Li. She was quite taken back by my kilt wearing but by the end of the two days of our visit I think she was really enjoying it. A bit of hamming around with Li.

A good time was had by all and my dad was quite happy we had the whole family together.

My cousins are still in therapy from seeing me in a kilt. One just kept saying "This ain't right."
