Who's your favorite celtic rock band?

I recently bought a new CD from Saor Patrol and have been listening to them while I'm at work. There are so many that I like, I couldn't really pick a favorite.

I've been a big fan of Barleyjuice for years now and have most of their CD's. Otherwise I'm going to have to go with Dropkick Murphy's, Gael Force (which is now Finn's Fury), and Albannach. Great Big Sea and Gaelic Storm are great bands but tend more towards pop than hard rock. As of late of have been listening to a band called Scythian. I've seen them before in concert in Milwaukee but I finally got to sit and enjoy them for the first time at Oshkosh. Acutually, I didn't sit too long. They are a great high energy, highly talented combination of Gypsy and Celtic music and you won't be sitting in your seat long if you see them. They and Gaelic Storm will both be releasing new CD's at Milwaukee Irish fest this year. I already have Scythian's and it is a great CD so pick it up if you get a chance. Just listened to some of "battlefield band"s music and it is pretty good. They use more pipes as well

We're three pages into this thread and still no mention of Flatfoot 56?! I suppose their "celticness" could be debated, though.

I was fortunate to see The Pogues in Atlanta not long before they split. Their live, reunion concert is pretty good but just not the same as the good ole days, IMO.

Thanks for this thread, BTW! I'm surprised at how many I haven't heard of before. So far, Mudmen is in the lead but I have about eight more to go with more yet to be mentioned, doubtless!

A lot of good Celtic bands mentioned. Like every one. I've been following a local band, Scythian since they played at a local Highland Games Festival ten years ago. If you ever have a chance to catch them do. You won't be disappointed.

What a great thread. I'd also vote for the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, but then I've never heard of many of the others and look forward to listening to them. On style alone I'd say that Celtica Pipes Rock are not far behind, but that is all I've listened to so far.
