A Meet Up in Glasgow

Pipersson is in Scotland for a few days and we arranged a meet up in Glasgow city centre.

We visited Glasgow University, this is Professor's Square, where traditionally the Professors resided.

More than forty years have passed since I attended classes here in the East Quadrangle. The brown door on the right and the arch on the left led into back to back lecture theatres. Nowadays this section has been converted to University offices.

All too soon it was time to bid farewell - at the "Heilanman's Umbrella", which is the section of Argyle Street which runs beneath Glasgow Central Railway Station.

I notice -and like very much- the relaxed atmosphere visible on these pictures by which you and your wife surrounded this Pipersson and family visit to Glasgow.
That is exactly how I also enjoy the most wearing the kilt!

Cracking photos, Alex! I'm so happy that you, Tom, Gabriele, et al, had the opportunity to meet up in Glasgow. I'm sure it was nice for your bonnie bride to have the opportunity to speak a bit of German too! I'm sure it was one of many stops for Tom and his family as they gradually make their way to Macpherson territory in Badenoch.

Thanks for posting these lovely photos. Glasgow is my "home patch", where I spent much of my early years. Lived not far from the Botanic Gardens, was a student at Glasgow University, and instantly recognised the location of the first picture (exit from Buchanan Street subway station, with St Enoch in the background!

Location is at Argyle Street, at the bottom of Buchanan Street and facing St. Enoch Square. Not taken with a powerful zoom lens. Immediately behind us is the new entrance to St. Enoch subway station. During my student days I would have entered St. Enoch station via the clock tower building in the background which was the old St. Enoch subway station and is now a tourist office. Hence why the clock tower looks so close. The entrance to Buchanan Street subway station is further up Buchanan Street and looks very similar, so yes with a strong zoom lens a very similar view could probably be replicated from Buchanan Street station entrance.

We really enjoyed meeting you three and being led through the city.

Guys, I am afraid I have to say I wasn't with my family just with my girlfriend Doris.
The pretty young girl is not our daughter but belongs to Gabrielle and Alex!

I won't be able to post any pictures before I am back home on 17th.

And I started a kilt diary which I will also write down then.

Tomorrow we'll be off for Inverness!
